Norfolk Man Wins $58,000 Playing Pick 5

Terry Colwell

Terry Colwell of Norfolk won $58,000 playing Nebraska Pick 5 from the Nebraska Lottery.

Colwell purchased his winning ticket from Reynoldson’s Shell at 905 S. 13th St. in Norfolk. The ticket contained the winning numbers (1, 17, 21, 26 and 38) from the October 19 drawing.

While claiming his prize October 23, Colwell told lottery officials that he didn’t believe it when the clerk checked his ticket, turned to him and said, “You won the big one.”

Colwell plans to use the money to finish his payments on his pickup.

Nebraska Pick 5 is Nebraska’s unique Lottery game: all the proceeds from Nebraska Pick 5 stay in Nebraska, and all the winning tickets are sold in Nebraska at Nebraska Lottery Lotto game retailers. The odds of winning the Nebraska Pick 5 jackpot, which starts at $50,000 and grows by $4,000 each drawing that is not won, are 1 in 501,942 while the overall odds of winning a prize in the game, which has drawings seven nights a week, are 1 in 8.
