Scottsbluff Woman Wins $44,000 Playing 2by2

Linda Newberry of Scottsbluff won $44,000 playing 2by2 from the Nebraska Lottery.

Newberry purchased her winning ticket from the Scottsbluff Watering Hole at 121 W 27th Street in Scottsbluff. The ticket contained the winning Red ball numbers (04, 15) and White ball numbers (07, 24) from the September 11 drawing. Because Newberry purchased a multi-draw ticket for 14 games, she was qualified for the 2by2 Tuesday features in which all prizes won on Tuesdays are automatically doubled on consecutive multi-draw tickets purchased in a quantity that’s divisible by seven.

After checking her numbers in the early morning hours of September 12, Newberry said she couldn’t believe her ticket matched the winning numbers.

“I told my daughter I thought I’d have a heart attack,” she said. “It was a very big shock.”

This was Newberry’s second big win from the Nebraska Lottery after she won $5,000 playing MyDaY in 2015.

Newberry said that she’ll be using some of the money to help with a bathroom remodel to add a walk-in tub that revealed rusted cast iron pipes in the basement that need to be replaced. After that’s paid off, she hopes to have enough to have a little fun with.

She’s won the top prize, but Newberry said she’ll continue to play 2by2 and other Nebraska Lottery games.

“It’s my main hobby,” she said.

The odds of winning the 2by2 top prize are 1 in 105,625. The overall odds of winning any prize in 2by2, which is also offered in Kansas and North Dakota, are 1 in 3.59.
