Omaha Man Wins $80,000 Playing Nebraska Pick 5

Paul Demulling

Paul Demulling of Omaha won $80,000 playing Nebraska Pick 5 from the Nebraska Lottery.

Demulling purchased his ticket at Casey’s #3913 at 11728 Emiline St. in La Vista. The ticket contained a single quick pick play for the March 6 drawing and matched the winning numbers 06, 12, 15, 21, 37. Demulling split the $160,000 March 3 jackpot with another player who purchased the same numbers at a store in Omaha.

Demulling said he’s a regular Pick 5 player and was a little confused when he scanned his ticket and it told him to see the cashier. The clerk scanned it for him and was stunned.

“I think I about gave her a heart attack,” he said.

The win came at a good time, Demulling said, as his wife is just about to retire and they’re planning to move down to Louisiana to be closer to their son and his family.

Nebraska Pick 5 is Nebraska's unique Lottery game: all the proceeds from Nebraska Pick 5 stay in Nebraska, and all the winning tickets are sold in Nebraska at Nebraska Lottery Lotto game retailers. The odds of winning the Nebraska Pick 5 jackpot, which starts at $50,000 and grows each drawing that it is not won, are 1 in 501,942. The overall odds of winning any Nebraska Pick 5 prize which has drawings seven nights a week, are 1 in 8.

During the month of March, the Nebraska Pick 5 jackpot will increase by $10,000 each time it is not won, up from $4,000, so the jackpot will grow faster than before. See nelottery.com for details.
