Ohio Man Wins $1 Million Playing Mega Millions

Byron Eash

Byron Eash of North Lewisburg, Ohio, won $1 million playing Mega Millions from the Nebraska Lottery.

Eash purchased his winning ticket at Oakland Express Fuels at 909 Hwy 32 in Oakland. The ticket contained two quick plays for the August 4 drawing, one of which matched five of the five winning numbers (11, 30, 45, 52, 56) but not the Mega Ball (20).

Oakland Express Fuels is a near-weekly stop for Eash, a trucker who drives loads from Norfolk out to Ohio.

“I always stop there to grab something to eat, something cold to drink and to check my straps,” he said. “Then I’m good to go.”

Eash stopped to claim his $1 million prize on August 9 on his way back to pick up a load to take back to Ohio. He said he usually only plays Mega Millions and Powerball when the jackpots get high and he’s not to sure if his lottery luck will continue, but he knows one place is a sure thing.

“I’ll be stopping in Oakland,” he said. “I always do.”

The odds of winning $1 million playing Mega Millions are 1 in 12,607,306 while the overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 24.
